Maytag Recalls Dishwashers Due to Fire Hazard

Maytag dishwashers sold between July 1997 and June 2001 have been connected to 135 fires. There are 2.3 million dishwashers included in this recall, and as of early Friday, February 2, the company was having trouble keeping up with call volume from concerned consumers.

If you machine may be a part of this recall, go to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's webpage for a list of model numbers. If you see your dishwasher on the list, Maytag advises that you unplug it immediately and call 1-800-675-0535 or visit the company's website.
